1984 (P) Washington Quarter - Atypical Die Clash ADC-25C-1984-01

Description

ADC-25c-1984-01 is an atypical die clash on a 1984-P Washington quarter, cataloged by Mad Die Clashes. The clash is strong and unabraded, and NGC has graded the coin MS66 with a Clashed Dies designation. On the obverse, the negative space between the eagle's wing and the leaves is clashed strongly ahead of Washington's eyes and nose, with faint bits of wing, branch and leaf detail across the fields. Under WE and TRUST, the upper wing's arch is strongly marked, part of the beak and the U of UNUM sit under his neck, and detail from the opposing wing appears behind his hair near the ear and ponytail. On the reverse, much of his face (nose, eyes, neck) runs from the eagle's neck through the wing and down toward the arrows, and his hair outline sweeps above QUARTER DOLLAR. Fragments of his hair show through the right wing, and a small piece of the E of WE sits above the left wing.
