1984 (P) Lincoln Memorial Cent - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-004

Description

1984 WDDR-004 is a doubled die reverse on the 1984 Lincoln Memorial cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. Extra thickness shows on UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, ONE CENT, and the designer's initials, and notches appear on the lower parts of the A's and the R in AMERICA. The obverse die was heavily abraded, leaving many vertical scratches through the 84 of the date. A strong scratch runs SSE from the base of LIBERTY's T, and many other scratches are spread over the obverse. The reverse die was heavily abraded too, with many scratches across the reverse, and a gouge lies between the upper parts of the N and T in CENT. John A. Conway submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
