Cataloged by MadDieClashes, this 1983 Philadelphia Roosevelt Dime exhibits strong clashed die marks on both sides from at least one planchet-less strike where the dies contacted each other directly. On the obverse, the letters EP from E PLURIBUS UNUM, ON from ONE, and olive branch leaves all transferred onto Roosevelt's face — ghost impressions appearing as faint raised marks across the portrait. The reverse may carry evidence of a second clash event or a Type 1 counterclash of the olive branch element, though further study is needed to confirm this anomaly. Counterclashing occurs when transferred design elements from an initial clash are re-transferred back during a subsequent planchet-less strike, creating a complex layered pattern.
