Description

ADC-5c-1983-03 This 1983-P Jefferson nickel has a relatively strong, crisp, unabraded die clash event. The image above shows the base of Monticello and part of the M of MONTICELLO. The next image above again shows the base of Monticello and the last O of MONTICELLO The image above shows the reverse of the coin and also a possible second clash event. This is the only area on the whole coin to show this possibility. These clash marks are generated by the field and the forehead of Jefferson. The underside of Jefferson’s chin and his collar produced the clash marks seen above. The space between Jefferson’s queue and his neck produced the often seen “flames over Monticello”. Also seen is the clash mark generated by the field and the bow in Jefferson’s hair.
