First documented reverse cud on the 1980 Philadelphia Mint Jefferson Nickel, CU-5c-1980P-01R cross-references as JNC-80P-1R in the Jefferson Nickel Cud census. The "R" suffix designates this as a reverse die break, distinguishing it from cuds that may appear on the obverse. Philadelphia resumed using the P mint mark on nickels in 1980, for the first time since the wartime nickels of 1942-1945, making this an early modern P-marked Jefferson Nickel and an interesting host for a cud variety.
