Designated CU-100c-1979P-01 by CudsOnCoins, this Philadelphia-mint Susan B. Anthony Dollar is the first documented cud variety for the 1979-P issue. Cuds form when the die rim fractures under repeated striking pressure, producing a raised, featureless lump at the corresponding position. Philadelphia served as the primary production facility for the new SBA Dollar in 1979, striking hundreds of millions as the Mint introduced the denomination to replace the Eisenhower Dollar.
