1977 Eisenhower Dollar - Variety WMHR-001

Description

1977 WMHR-001 is a reverse master hub doubling listed on the 1977 Eisenhower dollar, cataloged by the Wexler team. The spread, toward the center, shows on the designer's initials, ONE DOLLAR and the craters. Per Wexler, the obverse and reverse markers vary across the affected working dies. Various submitters are credited, and CONECA lists it as SD-2-R-II-C+VI. Wexler's comments say a master hub was expected to stay in use for several years; working dies sharing this exact doubling exist for 1974, 1977 and 1978. Differences in how the doubling looks come from wear to the master hub, the master die, the working hub, the working die and the coin.
