Description

TDC-1c-1974D-05 (LD) is a minor typical die clash on a 1974-D Large Date Lincoln Memorial cent. The clash marks show mainly on the reverse; the obverse die was polished. Paul DiGrado found the clash. A die clash happens when the obverse and reverse dies meet with no planchet between them, and each die takes an impression of the other's design. In a typical clash the dies meet in their normal rotational alignment. Polishing a clashed die removes the shallower marks and leaves the deeper ones. Attribution by Mad Die Clashes.
