The 1972-S Doubled Die Obverse DDO-002 is a doubled die obverse (DDO) variety, where a misalignment during the die hubbing process created visible doubling on the obverse design elements. This variety was discovered on the 1972 (S) Proof Kennedy Half Dollar, part of the Kennedy Half Dollars Clad and Silver Proof 1971 to Date series. Die markers: UVC-204 DMR-003 Stage A: Obverse and Reverse are EDS Stage B: Obverse and Reverse are MDS Stage C: Obverse and Reverse are LDS. Obverse is ODV-003. Reverse is RDV-004.
