1972 Eisenhower Dollar - Type 1 - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-004

Description

1972 WDDR-004 is a doubled die reverse on the 1972 Eisenhower dollar (Type 1), cataloged by the Wexler team. A Class I clockwise (CW) spread shows on the stars, USA (UNITED STATES OF AMERICA), ONE DOLLAR, the craters, the designer's initials, and the olive branch and leaves, and slightly on E PLURIBUS UNUM. The obverse shows master die doubling. The reverse is the Type A reverse. A strong scratch runs NE to SW through the G of FG down to the crater beneath it, and a short scratch heads WNW from the upper left of DOLLAR's R. Thomas Kalantzis submitted the variety, and CONECA lists it as 1-R-I.
