1972 (D) Lincoln Memorial Cent - Atypical Die Clash ADC-1C-1972D-02

Description

ADC-1c-1972D-02 is an atypical die clash on a 1972-D Lincoln Memorial cent, cataloged by Mad Die Clashes. There are signs of a slight second clash around RTY in LIBERTY, but the marks are mostly a single set, on the obverse. Where the two fields touched, the die surface shows the altered sheen of wear. The coin also has a minor repunched mint mark similar to CONECA 1972D RPM-007 and a slight finned rim from K7 to K1. The die comes from the second 1972 master die and shows engraving doubling. The reverse is abraded but shows little clear evidence of this clash. Jared Vineyard found the die.
