Description
1971-D WDDR-001 is a doubled die reverse on the 1971-D Kennedy half dollar, cataloged by the Wexler team. All the stars around the reverse show extra thickness and some notching, strongest between 2:00 and 6:00, and the lower letters of AMERICA are notched in places. The obverse is WDDO-004, which has a counterclockwise (CCW) spread pivoting near 10:00 on IN GOD WE TRUST (IGWT), the date, ERTY of LIBERTY and the hair details under ER. Its markers are X-shaped scratches partway up the back of the nose and a diagonal scratch halfway between the eyebrow and the hair to its west. On the reverse, a scratch heads SW from the star between DOLLAR's L and A. Bill Fivaz submitted the variety, and CONECA lists it as 2-R-VI.
