Description

A spread towards the center shows on QUARTER DOLLAR and the lower wreath with all doubling decreasing in spread from left to right. Die Markers: Obverse: Die markers will vary on the individual working dies affected. Reverse: The leave directly to the left of the arrowheads is rounded at the top. Die markers will vary on the individual working dies affected.

  • Discovered by Various Cross References: CONECA: SD-2-R-II-C+VI Comments: Because this was a master hub it was intended to be used over a period of several years. Working dies with the exact same doubling are known to exist for the years 1968 through 1970 from all three Mints including proof coins. Differences in the appearance of the doubling will result from master hub wear, master die wear, working hub wear, working die wear, as well as coin wear. A second similar doubled master hub exists for this time period with the main difference being the leave directly to the left of the arrowheads. On the other doubled master hub that leave is pointed at the top.
