Description

Unlike a standard working die doubled die where only one die is affected, WWHR-001 represents a hub-level doubling event — the secondary impression occurred on the working hub itself, meaning every working die produced from that hub carries the same doubling. Wexler Variety ID: 1968-D 50c WWHR-001. Previously cataloged as WDDR-004, this variety was reclassified when analysis revealed its hub-level origin. Spread is visible on USA, the stars, and nine stars above E PLURIBUS UNUM on the reverse. Because the doubling originates at the hub level, individual working dies share the same doubled features but exhibit different die markers — scratches, gouges, and polish lines vary from die to die while the underlying doubling remains constant.
