1966 SMS Roosevelt Dime - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-001

Description

1966 WDDR-001 is a doubled die reverse on the 1966 Special Mint Set Roosevelt dime, cataloged by the Wexler team. A Class I clockwise (CW) spread appears on UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, ONE DIME, E PLU of E PLURIBUS UNUM, the stem of the upper right oak leaf and the upper olive stem, and the tips of the torch flame are tripled. On the obverse, a short N/S scratch sits over the left side of LIBERTY's Y. On the reverse, a scratch runs SW from the dot between E and P of E PLURIBUS UNUM, and another runs SW from the lower right of that E. Across the three lower left olive leaves runs a scratch, slightly curved, in a N by E/S by W direction, and a die chip (dot) lies in the field east of UNUM's M. Istvan Henrik submitted the variety. CONECA lists it as 1-R-V. Wexler's comments note that it was found in a 1966 Special Mint Set. Wexler includes it in its "Best Of" varieties.
