1965 Washington Quarter - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-001

Description

1965 WDDR-001 is a doubled die reverse on the 1965 Washington quarter, cataloged by the Wexler team. A Class II + VI spread toward the center shows on UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, QUARTER DOLLAR, E PLURIBUS UNUM, the eagle's head at the back, the outer part of its left wing, the leaves and the branches. On the obverse, a scratch heads NNE from the front of the eyebrow. On the reverse, a scratch runs to the rim from the C of AMERICA at its upper left, and another heads NNE from the base of the L in PLURIBUS. James Braun submitted the variety. CONECA lists it as 1-R-II+VI. Cherrypickers listed it as FS-25-1965-801 but removed it in the sixth edition. Wexler includes it in its "Best Of" varieties.
