Description

Unlike the proof-exclusive DDO-004 and DDO-024, DDR-013 on the 1964 Kennedy Half Dollar is a regular-strike variety, showing light spread on the stars positioned under and among the letters of UNITED and AMERICA, on stars nestled between the heraldic eagle's rays, and along the upper ribbon edge. The spread across multiple small design elements — stars and ribbon edges rather than large legend letters — characterizes a subtle but pervasive hub displacement affecting the reverse die. Cataloged as UVC-379 with DMR-049, Stage C reveals a light die crack extending across clouds seven and eight in late die state, confirming progressive die fatigue. This variety carries the ODV-002/RDV-002 "Flared G" pairing shared with the proof DDO entries, linking it to the same obverse and reverse design family distinguished by the flared serif on the G in GOD. The 1964 Kennedy Half Dollar — the inaugural year of the series in 90% silver — saw record-setting production as the public hoarded coins honoring the recently assassinated president.
