1964 (D) Roosevelt Dime - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-012

Description

1964-D WDDR-012 is a doubled die reverse on the 1964-D Roosevelt dime, cataloged by the Wexler team. A very close counterclockwise (CCW) spread pivoting at 12:00 appears on ONE DIME. Obverse Stage A has a die chip (dot) over the eyelid and a small die chip (dot) at about the left center inside LIBERTY's R. On Obverse Stage B the eyelid chip remains, the chip inside the R is gone, and a cluster of gouges lies right of the R's right leg. Reverse Stage A: a heavy gouge hangs from the left underside of STATES's first T. A wavy gouge runs west from the torch holder's lower band, above the mint mark; a die chip (dot) is centered between DIME's I and M; and a gouge sits over the right side of PLURIBUS's B. On Reverse Stage B the dot at the D in DIME and the gouge at the T in STATES are weaker, and the other Stage A markers have been abraded away. New are a long scratch running south from PLURIBUS's B through the mint mark, many N/S scratches through the olive branch, and a die crack that leaves the rim at 3:15 and runs WNW through AMERICA's C.
