1964 (D) Roosevelt Dime - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-010

Description

1964-D WDDR-010 is a doubled die reverse on the 1964-D Roosevelt dime, cataloged by the Wexler team. A light spread toward the center appears on the lettering around the rim, strongest on ONE DIME. Obverse Stage A: a NE/SW scratch lies between LIBERTY's T and the rim, and a SW scratch runs from the center of the Y's left fork to the T, below its center. NE/SW scratches cross the lower part of the date's 6, and a series of scratches runs SSW off the eye. On Obverse Stage B the Stage A markers remain. Reverse Stage A: a light scratch heads south off the olive branch's tip, reaching the inside of ONE's N at its right center, and a series of light scratches runs north off the upper right oak leaf. Reverse Stage B keeps the Stage A markers and adds two die cracks: one from the torch base's lower right running SE to the left center of DIME's M, and one leaving the rim at 5:00 and running NW through the inside left of that M. Christopher Ohanian submitted Stage A and John Bordner Stage B. Wexler lists no cross-references.
