Die markers UVC-1145 and DMR-012 confirm this working die. The left-to-right intensification indicates pivoted hub doubling where the secondary hub impression was rotated around a pivot point located to the left of the affected inscriptions, producing minimal displacement near the pivot and progressively larger offset as distance from that point increases rightward. On E PLURIBUS UNUM, this gradient means the E at the left end shows the least detectable doubling while the M at the right end exhibits the greatest separation; on STATES OF AMERICA, the S of STATES carries minimal offset while the final A of AMERICA displays the most pronounced spread. This measurable progression across both inscriptions serves as a built-in authentication feature that distinguishes DDR-003 from mechanical doubling or strike doubling, which typically produces flat shelf-like displacement without directional gradients. The light intensity classification means the progressive spread requires careful examination to confirm, though the right-end letters in each inscription — where the displacement is greatest — provide the most accessible diagnostic entry points.
