Description

Cataloged by the Wexler Team as 1963-D 10¢ WDDR-001 and extensively cross-referenced as CONECA 1-R-IV and Cherrypickers FS-10-1963D-801 (018.2), this Roosevelt Silver Dime displays a strong clockwise spread emanating from a pivot point at approximately 8 o'clock, producing visible doubling on USA, EPU, ONE DIME, the torch flame, and the lower leaves and branches on the reverse. The CW spread from a low-left pivot creates the greatest displacement on elements furthest from the pivot — meaning the upper-right portions of the reverse design show the most pronounced doubling while areas near the 8 o'clock position show minimal separation. The CONECA Class IV designation confirms Offset Hub Doubling as the mechanism. Obverse die markers include a long die scratch running south-southeast from the rim between the T and Y of LIBERTY down to the forehead and a die scratch running north-northwest from the upper right of the O in GOD to the chin. Reverse markers show die scratches running southeast from inside the lower area of the C in AMERICA and from inside the left side lower leg of the second A in AMERICA.
