Description
The 1963 (D) Franklin Half Dollar is a half dollar produced at the Denver Mint as part of the Franklin Half Dollars 1948-1963 series. The U.S. Mint produced 67.1 million examples, making this the higher-mintage of the two mint variants, representing 75% of production. The obverse features Benjamin Franklin facing right and the reverse displays the Liberty Bell. Final year of the Franklin Half Dollar, replaced by the Kennedy Half Dollar in 1964 following President Kennedy's assassination. Struck at the Denver Mint, established in 1906 from an earlier assay office that processed Colorado gold rush metal. Estimated market value ranges from $37 to $79 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 12.5 grams, 30 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #6685.
