Description
A close CW spread shows on the designer’s initials, USA, the designer’s initials, and ONE CENT. Die Markers: Obverse Stage A: Numerous die scratches running mostly N/S can be found through the date and behind the head. A long die scratch runs north from the top of the nine in the date. Obverse Stage B: Horizontal die scratches now run through the date. Reverse Stage A: A strong die scratch runs from the lower E in UNITED to the upper first T in STATES. Two diagonal die scratches connect the lower 5th and 6th Memorial columns. A die scratch runs through the lower CEN of CENT. Reverse Stage B: A die scratch curves to the north from the upper right of the N in CENT. A die crack runs north into the field from the tip of the right cornice. A die crack runs through the upper C in CENT. A strong die scratch runs NNE from the top right side of the last Memorial column. Obverse Stage A:
