Description

Struck as a proof, the 1960 Franklin Half Dollar DDO-006 displays medium spread on LIBERTY and the date with a light triple spread on WE TRUST — an uncommon tripling effect where three distinct impressions are visible in the motto. VarietyVista catalogs this variety as UVC-141 with DMR-008. Die state progression begins at Stage A with a die gouge present on the first T of TRUST in early die state, paired with a reverse also in early die state. Stage B represents mid-die state on both sides, while Stage C captures the late die state. The tripling on WE TRUST is particularly significant because it indicates at least three separate hubbing impressions contributed to the final die, each slightly offset from the others.
