Description

Fourth cud for the 1959 Denver Lincoln Memorial Cent, part of an eight-entry sequence mapping rim failures across Denver's inaugural Memorial run. The 1959 design change was the most significant Lincoln Cent redesign since 1909, and Denver's output of approximately 1.28 billion cents was among the largest single-mint-year totals in cent history. Each cud number represents a distinct die whose rim fractured — the separated fragment leaving a void filling with planchet metal. Gasparro's columned Memorial presented different relief than the replaced Wheat Cent. Cross-referenced as CU-1C-1959D-04, cataloged by Cuds on Coins.
