1957 Lincoln Wheat Cent - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-003

Description

1957 WDDR-003 is a doubled die reverse on the 1957 Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. Both wheat ears and both stems are thickened and spread toward the center, and E PLURIBUS UNUM and the dots are thickened as well. Obverse markers: a long scratch running south from the lower left of LIBERTY's B; a long scratch running SSW from the lower right of IN's I; a clash mark at the front of the throat; and many other scratches across the obverse. Reverse markers: a scratch heading WSW from the E of E PLURIBUS UNUM, at its top left; nearly parallel SSW-NNE scratches between ONE's E and CENT's T; and many other scratches across the reverse. Brian Ribar submitted the variety. CONECA lists it as 13-R-II. Wexler includes it in its "Best Of" varieties.
