1957 Lincoln Wheat Cent - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-017

Description

1957 WDDR-017 is a doubled die reverse on the 1957 Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. Both wheat ears and both stems show extra thickness and a spread toward the center, and E PLURIBUS UNUM and the dots show extra thickness. On the obverse, parallel scratches head SSE from beneath the chin, clash remnants sit just right of the throat, and LIBERTY has a large BIE die break. On the reverse, strong parallel SSW/NNE scratches run above CENT's T, and scratches run south from the lower left side of CENT's C. Marvin L. Young submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
