Description
Part of the Roosevelt Silver Dimes 1946-1964 series, the 1957 (D) Roosevelt Dime is a dime from the Denver Mint. The U.S. Mint produced 113.4 million examples, making this the lower-mintage of the two mint variants. The obverse features Franklin D. Roosevelt facing left, honoring the president who championed the March of Dimes and the reverse displays a torch flanked by olive and oak branches, symbolizing liberty, peace, and strength. Minted during the post-war economic boom, the final era of silver circulating coinage in the United States before the Coinage Act of 1965. Coined at Denver's facility, which transitioned from processing Colorado gold rush metal to full-scale coin production in 1906. Estimated market value ranges from $7 to $13 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 2.5 grams, 17.9 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #5115.
