Description

Strong extra thickness shows on the letters of EPU, both of the dots, both of the upper wheat ears, and both of the wheat stems. Die Markers: Obverse Stage A: A long die scratch runs north from the top left R of LIBERTY to the N of IN. Two nearly parallel die scratches runs south from the bottom of the E in LIBERTY. A die scratch runs from SW to NE between the lower 1 and 9 of the date. A short die scratch runs west to east between the upper 9 and 5 of the date. Obverse Stage B: LDS. All Stage A die scratches are no longer visible. Reverse Stage A: Parallel die scratches run from SSW to NNE between the R and I of PLURIBUS. A die scratch runs SW from the bottom of the S in PLURIBUS. A strong die gouge (dot) can be found just above the A in STATES. A die gouge can be found below and between the M and E of AMERICA. A die scratch runs SW from the lower left 1st S of STATES. A die scratch runs NE from the upper right 1st A of AMERICA to the D of UNITED. Reverse Stage B: LDS. The die scratches between the R and I of PLURIBUS are weaker, but still visible. Most of the other Stage A die scratches are no longer visible. Both of the die gouges are still visible.
