Cataloged by MadDieClashes as TDC-1c-1956-02, this 1956 Philadelphia Lincoln Wheat Cent preserves evidence of a dual-event die clash—meaning the obverse and reverse dies came into contact without a planchet between them on two separate occasions. On the obverse die, two distinct sets of clash marks are visible: the partial letter N transferred from CENT appears at Lincoln's throat, while the top of the letter E can be seen clashed just before the 1 digit in the date. The reverse die shows a faint clash mark from the right side of the N in CENT extending upward to the bottom of the E in ONE. Although the clash impressions are subtle, the dual-event nature of this variety—evidenced by two overlapping sets of transferred design elements on the obverse—makes it more interesting than a single-event clash. Die clashes on late Wheat Cents are not uncommon, but documented dual events with identifiable letter transfers on both sides represent a more unusual find.
