1956 Proof Lincoln Wheat Cent - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-008

Description

1956 WDDR-008 is a doubled die reverse on the 1956 proof Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. E PLURIBUS UNUM, both dots, both upper wheat ears and both stems, AMERICA, and the upper parts of ONE's letters show a strong spread toward the center. The right stem and the lower right wheat ear are tripled. Wexler notes no obverse markers. On the reverse there are three gouges (dots): one under CENT's C, one halfway between the left wheat stem's bottom and the lower left of AMERICA's first A, and one under the lower right wheat stem. Kevin Flynn submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references. Wexler includes it in its "Best Of" varieties.
