1950 Proof Roosevelt Dime - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-002 / DDR-001

Description

DDR-001, which Wexler numbers WDDR-002, is a doubled die reverse on the 1950 proof Roosevelt dime, showing a medium spread on OF AMERICA, on DIME and UNUM, and on the right dot. Both catalogs cite it as FS-801 in the Cherrypickers' Guide; Wexler writes FS-10-1950-801 and notes it was removed in the 6th Edition. Wexler's Coins and Die Varieties describes a medium spread toward the center on E PLURIBUS UNUM, OF AMERICA, ONE DIME, the dot and the leaves on the right. It notes no obverse markers. On the reverse a short, thick scratch juts below the lower crossbar of the F of OF, and NW/SE scratches start at the torch base above the leaves and run through the leaves on the right. Ralph Huntzinger submitted the coin, and CONECA lists the die as 1-R-II. VarietyVista credits Delma K. Romines with the report. Under its marker codes UVC-192 and DMR-004, stage A (an early die state) and stage C (a late die state) are unconfirmed, and at stage B both sides are in a middle die state.
