Description
The 1944-S Doubled Die Reverse DDR-002 is a doubled die reverse (DDR) variety, where die hubbing misalignment produced visible doubling on the reverse design. This variety was discovered on the 1944 (S) Jefferson Nickel - Wartime Silver Alloy, part of the Jefferson Nickels Original Design 1938-2003 series. Die markers: UVC-780 DMR-008 Stage A: Reverse and Obverse are EDS Stage B: Die crack from outside Right steps to pillar # 4 – MDS Die crack from Right dome South-Southwest between pillars # 3 and # 4 Die clash next to Right railing Stage C: Die crack from lower Right building to rim through the last A of AMERICA – LDS Obverse is LDS.
