Description
The 1944 Doubled Die Reverse DDR-004 is a doubled die reverse (DDR) variety, where die hubbing misalignment produced visible doubling on the reverse design. This variety was discovered on the 1944 (P) Jefferson Nickel - Wartime Silver Alloy, part of the Jefferson Nickels Original Design 1938-2003 series. Die markers: UVC-770 DMR-042 Stage A: EDS (unconfirmed) Stage B: Die gouge dot above Left edge of far Left window – LMDS Curving die gouge above far Right window Obverse is LMDS Stage C: Reverse is LDS Light die crack North-South in hair – LDS Die clash in front of chin and through ribbon knot.
