Description
The 1944 (D) Philippine Twenty Centavos D/S Allen-12.04a was struck at the Denver Mint as a twenty centavos coin in the Philippines Twenty Centavos 1903-1945 series. The obverse features a female figure standing beside an anvil and the reverse displays an eagle above a shield. Produced during World War II, when the Mint altered coin compositions to conserve strategic metals for the war effort. Coined at Denver's facility, which transitioned from processing Colorado gold rush metal to full-scale coin production in 1906. Auction record: $1,920 MS67 09-20-2020 Heritage Auctions.
