1943 (S) Lincoln Wheat Cent - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-006

Description

1943-S WDDR-006 is a doubled die reverse on the 1943-S Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. OF AMERICA, the wheat ears, the dots, and E PLURIBUS UNUM show extra thickness. Obverse markers: scratches under the chin that run south ahead of the tie; multiple NNW scratches in front of the nose and forehead; and north-south scratches behind Lincoln's head, above the TY of LIBERTY. Reverse markers: a crack heading south off the rim to the first U of PLURIBUS and on to the O of ONE at its top left; a wavy crack or gouge running SSE through the middle of the N in ONE; a chip on the lower left of the O in ONE, with a crack from that chip to the E of CENT, at the middle of its left side; and a crack running north off the rim into the lower right wheat ear. Daniel Griffin submitted the variety. CONECA lists it as 6-R-II-C+VI and Coppercoins as 1943S-1DR-002.
