1943 (S) Lincoln Wheat Cent - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-004

Description

1943-S WDDR-004 is a doubled die reverse on the 1943-S Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. EPU, both dots, and both wheat ears show extra thickness, and separation lines appear on both wheat stems and both upper wheat ears. Obverse marker: a crack above VDB that continues farther east. Reverse markers: a diagonal scratch below what Wexler calls the second A in STATES; a gouge left of the lower part of the second A of AMERICA, well under the C; a diagonal scratch through the lower part of the second T in STATES; a diagonal scratch from the lower T of CENT to the upper second T of STATES; a diagonal scratch through the lower left leg of the M in AMERICA; a scratch from the lower right of the E in ONE to the upper left of the T in CENT; and a vertical scratch inside the O of ONE, on its left side. Albert B. Raddi submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
