1943 Lincoln Wheat Cent - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-012

Description

1943 WDDO-012 is a doubled die obverse on the 1943 Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. Extra eyelids appear both above and below the normal eyelid. Obverse markers: a clash mark just right of the throat; short, strong, parallel SW-to-NE scratches left of the back of the neck; there are also rotational scratches over the bust and the fields on either side of it; and a short crack heading SW from the W of WE, at its bottom left. Reverse markers: a SW-to-NE scratch inside the lower E of CENT, and three parallel SW-to-NE scratches through the A of STATES. David Mulberry & James Sprankle submitted the variety. CONECA lists it as 17-O-IV.
