1942 (S) Lincoln Wheat Cent - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-003

Description

1942-S WDDR-003 is a doubled die reverse on the 1942-S Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. The right wheat lines show slight doubling. On the obverse is a strong Class IV doubled die, which Wexler's doubled die files list as 1942-S 1¢ WDDO-002, with a SW spread on IGWT (IN GOD WE TRUST), the date, and the vest, and tripling on TRUST's letters, especially the bottom of the U. Its markers are a long scratch rising north from LIBERTY's Y and a crack across the bust's base. Reverse: several parallel scratches running south from AMERICA's IC toward the right wheat stem, and a scratch running south from the lower left of OF's O to the left wheat stem's top. Michael Taw submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
