1941 Doubled Die Reverse DDR-004
Error
Description
Cataloged under UVC-1498 and DMR-028, this 1941 Lincoln Wheat Cent DDR-004 displays strong extra thickness on E PLURIBUS UNUM, the wheat ears and stems, and AMERICA — the hallmarks of a well-developed reverse hub doubling event. Die stage progression adds important attribution context: Stage A obverse originates from a hub with a broken last T in TRUST, making the hub variant identifiable even before examining the reverse. By Stage C, a die crack has developed across Lincoln's bust and extending into the lapel, providing a reliable late-stage marker for attribution. The combination of bold reverse doubling and these distinct obverse stage features makes DDR-004 one of the more comprehensively documented 1941 Wheat Cent reverse doubled dies in the VarietyVista catalog. Bronze composition, at 95% copper and 5% zinc and tin, applies throughout the Lincoln Wheat Cent series from 1909 through 1958.
