Description
1940-S WDDR-005 is a doubled die reverse on the 1940-S Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. Wexler's description gives extra thickness on the date and LIBERTY. On the Stage A obverse, scratches run SSE below the 94 of the date and through the mint mark; on Stage B they are extremely weak. The Stage A reverse shows two short parallel E/W gouges under the left dot. On Stage B a crack runs NW from ONE's O, at its upper left, passing between PLURIBUS' L and U on its way to the rim. Bill Wilson submitted the variety. The Coppercoins number is 1940S-1DR-002.
