1940 (S) Lincoln Wheat Cent - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-004

Description

1940-S WDDR-004 is a doubled die reverse on the 1940-S Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. The kernels of the lower right wheat stalk show a spread toward the center, and extra thickness appears on the ES of STATES, the second A of AMERICA, the right wheat stem, and the upper right wheat ear. Wexler notes no obverse markers. Reverse: a gouge line through the upper right kernels of the right wheat stalk; two short gouges extending from the rim near 3:00; a gouge heading NW from the left ear's 3rd left kernel counted from the top; and short gouges running east from the first U of PLURIBUS at its upper left. Albert B. Raddi submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
