Description
1940 WDDR-001 is a doubled die reverse on the 1940 Mercury dime, cataloged by the Wexler team. A spread toward the center shows on STATES OF, on some of the upper leaves, and on the tops of the axe and the fasces, and E PLURIBUS UNUM shows extra thickness. Wexler notes no significant obverse markers. On the reverse, left of the first U in UNUM are die scratches running mostly north-south. Whaden Curtis submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
