Description
1939 WDDO-011 is a doubled die obverse on the 1939 Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. The eyelid is doubled, with the extra one south of the primary. Obverse Stage A has a short scratch southeast of the right leg of LIBERTY's R, and two strong scratches heading south from the back of the hair, just behind the neck. On Stage B the scratch under the R and the one behind the neck are still visible but weak, and a strong crack runs over V.D.B. Reverse Stage A shows a curly WSW/ESE scratch between the P and L of PLURIBUS; on Stage B the scratches on those letters are extremely weak. John Wexler submitted Stage A and Daniel Griffin Stage B. Wexler lists no cross-references.
