1939 Lincoln Wheat Cent - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-004

Description

1939 WDDO-004 is a doubled die obverse on the 1939 Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. South of the primary eyelid lies an extra eyelid. On the obverse, scratches cross the eye, eyebrow, and temple and appear in front of the nose, and a crack runs well above VDB. Wexler notes no reverse markers. Wexler lists the submitter as unknown. CONECA lists the variety as both 3-O-IV and 7-O-IV, and Coppercoins as 1939P-1DO-013. Wexler's comments explain that the photographed coin links these listings: it shows both the eyelid-area scratches that identify CONECA's 3-O-IV and the bust crack over VDB that identifies CONECA's 7-O-IV and the Coppercoins listing 1939P-1DO-013.
