1939 Lincoln Wheat Cent - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-025

Description

1939 WDDO-025 is a doubled die obverse on the 1939 Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. The doubling takes the form of an extra eyelid to the south. Obverse: a series of NNW/SSE scratches through the date; series of diagonal scratches below IN, through GOD, and on the upper temple; concentric scratches below the ear; mostly vertical scratches over the ERTY of LIBERTY; and light horizontal scratches on the lower shoulder fold. Reverse: a concentric scratch at the rim, right of the upper right wheat tip; a clash line right of the E in ONE; a clash through the bottom of CENT's C; light concentric scratches running southeast from the T of CENT's right edge; and light vertical scratches beneath the CA of AMERICA.
