1937 Lincoln Wheat Cent - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-012

Description

1937 WDDR-012 is a doubled die reverse on the 1937 Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. Extreme extra thickness appears on OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, and both wheat stalks and stems. Obverse: a series of concentric scratches northwest of the date, and more concentric scratches in the field right of Lincoln's mouth; a faded scratch rising north from the top of the R in LIBERTY, and light scratches running north from its Y; a horizontal scratch on the front of the jacket; many concentric scratches through and behind the ear; and light horizontal scratches across the lapel and the rear shoulder fold. Reverse: a gouge running WNW off PLURIBUS' R from its upper left edge; gouges on both upper sides of UNUM's first U; a diagonal clash line through the E of ONE; light diagonal scratches from the lower E of ONE to CENT's T; and a clash line near the bottom of the C in CENT.
