Error
Description
Extreme extra thickness shows E PLURIBUS UNUM, both wheat stalks and stems, and OF AMERICA. Die Markers: Obverse: A series of concentric die scratches show to the northwest of the date. Concentric die scratches show in the field to the right of Lincoln’s mouth. A faded die scratch runs north from the upper R in LIBERTY. Light die scratches run north from the Y in LIBERTY. A horizontal die scratch shows on the front of Lincoln’s jacket. Numerous, concentric die scratches run through and behind Lincoln’s ear. Light, horizontal die scratches run over Lincoln’s lapel and rear shoulder fold. Reverse: A die gouge runs WNW from the upper left edge of the R in PLURIBUS. Die gouges show on both upper sides of the first U in UNUM. A diagonal die clash line runs through the E in ONE. Light, diagonal die scratches run from the lower E in ONE to T in CENT.
