Description

=1935-S VAM-6 Doubled Lower Left Reverse Rays= Discovered by John Coxe, October 2005. 6 III 1 · Cc (Doubled Lower Left Reverse Rays) I-2 R-5 Reverse Cc– Slightly doubled four rays below ONE and last left ray below tail feathers on left side. Comments: 1. Discovered in October 2005 by John Coxe and designated by Leroy Van Allen in May 2006, this variety features the Cc reverse, the third of only 3 C reverses known for the series. The C reverse is distinguished by the addition of a leftmost ray. This appears as a fourth ray beneath ONE and, by extension, a seventh ray under the tail feathers. It exists only on one date, 1935-S, and only on a fraction of that mintage. It was thought to be only on a single reverse, Ca, on a single die pair VAM-3. In April of 1999, Jeff Oxman discovered a second C reverse, Cb, and VAM-4 was designated with it. That variety is a Top-50 VAM. 2. This reverse differs from the Cb reverse in that, although the left rays are doubled (arguably tripled), there is no sympathetic doubling on the right side. VAM-4 has the eagle's claw and olive branch features clearly doubled. This variety exhibits no such doubling on the right whatsoever.
