Description
The Hall of Science was the focal point of Chicago's Century of Progress, an exposition that put science and industry ahead of everything else, and HK-469 shows the building under its name with "A Century of Progress," "Chicago" and 1933 stacked beneath. The reverse is a lucky charm, a four-leaf clover inside a horseshoe with a wishbone below and "Keep Me for Good Luck" around the top. Fair buildings of the time were described as ultramodern, relying on plain planes, color and lighting rather than decoration. The medal is gilt and 32 mm. A later edition, HK-469a, carries the dates of both seasons, and this good-luck reverse also turns up behind the Travel and Transport building on HK-474.
